Jazzercise?!?!

On October 24, 2007, 59 members and 2 adults attended the 2007 District Leadership Conference with a theme of "Life is a Highway on the FCCLA Road." District Officer, Mary Trenhaile, helped plan and implement this conference. District Leadership Conference is also the first cut for State Officer Candidates. We are very proud of Sarah Oltjenbruns for making this cut and being one of two representatives from district 8 at state in 2008. Jennifer Ohlfest also participated in the district creed speaking competition. Cortney Millikan represented the Student Body team by giving a round robin presentation along with other peer members and state officers. Members attended the round robin sessions presented by the state and peer officers, and sessions entitled Jazzercise, Credit Card Blues, Eating Green, and Top Chef. Those who completed Power of One modules last year received certificates. The keynote speaker we had this year did a presentation called More Energy, Better Grades, and Less Acne. This presentation was very educational for teens about the eating and everyday life habits we have developed that are affecting our overall health and well being. It was truly a reality check and potentially a turning point for many of us who have these bad habits. Fortunately he did not just inform us about the bad, but he also suggested ways to turn the bad into good. This years DLC was very successful, fun, and educational. We would also like to wish Sarah good luck at the State Leadership Conference in April!
