Bloomfield Girls Basketball Team Notches Two Wins

The Bloomfield girls won quite handily over Niobrara in a 72-26 contest. The local girls had a very hot night shooting while holding Niobrara in check throughout the game. Leading the scoring for Bloomfield was Lindsay Hopkins with 24 points, followed by Julie Nelson with 12, Mary Lingenfelter and Ali Gieselman with 8 each, Ashley Laible 6, Emma Wagner 3, Brooke Hopkins 4 and Kristen Allen with 5. Kristen Allen led the girls in assists as she dished out 3, followed by Ali Gieselman with 2 and 1 each to Lindsay Hopkins and Brooke Hopkins. Leading rebounder on the night was Julie Nelson with 9, followed by Emma Wagner with 5, Mary Lingenfelter and Lynndsy Hauger 4, Whitney Goeden and Kristen Allen 3, Karrah Johnson, Ali Gieselman, and Brooke Hopkins 2 and 1 each to Ashley Laible and Lindsay Hopkins. Lindsay Hopkins had 8 steals, while Ali Gieselman and Brooke Hopkins had 3, Whitney Goeden, Mary Lingenfelter, Julie Nelson and Kristen Allen had 2 and Emma Wagner recorded 1. Ali Gieselman had the only blocked shot for the girls.

The girls won their next game against Lynch by a score of 54-38. They were led in scoring by Lindsay Hopkins with 20 points, followed by Julie Nelson with 11, Kristen Allen 7, Ashley Laible 6, Lynndsy Hauger and Samantha Goeden 3 and Emma Wagner and Mary Trenhaile each had 2. The other statistics weren't available.

Allen Nips Local Girls 56-42 in Basketball Action
Allen jumped out to a big 20-12 lead after the first quarter of play to make things tough for the local girls in a 56-42 loss.
The local girls didn’t take this sitting down as they put together a big second quarter to narrow the margin to 32-30 heading into the locker room at the half.
Allen then used a solid third quarter where they outscored Bloomfield 14-6 to lead 46-36 heading into the final quarter. The local girls were never able to get things going in the fourth quarter, as they were outscored 10-6 while falling 56-42 to the Allen Eagles.
Leading Bloomfield on offense was Lindsay Hopkins with 15 points, followed by Ashley Laible with 10, Kristen Allen 6, Mary Trenhaile 4, Mary Lingenfelter, Julie Nelson and Lynndsy Hauger 2 each and Emma Wagner had 1.
Kristen Allen dished out 7 assists for the girls while Lindsay Hopkins had 4 and 1 each to Samantha Goeden, Mary Lingenfelter, Whitney Goeden and Ashley Laible.
Mary Trenhaile recorded 3 blocked shots and Samantha Goeden had 2 and Emma Wagner 1. Lindsay Hopkins led with 5 steals, while Ashley Laible, Mary Lingenfelter, Samantha Goeden, Mary Trenhaile and Kristen Allen had 2 each and Brooke Hopkins, Ali Gieselman and Emma Wagner each had 1.
Mary Trenhaile also led the girls in rebounding as she snared 7 errant shots, followed by Kristen Allen, Lynndsy Hauger, Lindsay Hopkins and Julie Nelson with 4, Ali Gieselman and Mary Lingenfelter 2 and 1 each to Samantha Goeden, Whitney Goeden and Ashley Laible.

Bloomfield Girls Defeat Omaha Nation 48-30
The trip to Macy to play Omaha Nation was a good one for the Bloomfield girls as they returned home with a 48-30 victory.
The game started out slowly with Bloomfield holding a slim 8-7 lead after the first quarter of play. Bloomfield then put together a huge second quarter as they outscored Omaha Nation 15-8 and led 23-15 at the half.
A big third quarter for Bloomfield saw them leading 37-21 heading into the fourth quarter of play. Bloomfield then added another 11 while holding Omaha Nation to 9 for the 48-30 victory.
Lindsay Hopkins led the girls with 17 points, while Kristen Allen added 10, Whitney Goeden 8, Mary Trenhaile 4, Julie Nelson 2, Ali Gieselman 1, Mary Lingenfelter 3, Emma Wagner 2 and Ashley Laible 1.

Bloomfield Girls Get Home Win Over Rock County 43-31
Lindsay Hopkins had a big night Saturday as she led the Bloomfield Bees basketball team to a 43-31 victory over Rock County.
Bloomfield trailed Rock County 7-6 after the first quarter of play before putting together a good second quarter to take a 19-14 lead into the locker room at the half.
The local girls then extended their lead to 28-20 with a solid third quarter before putting Rock County away with a 15-11 scoring margin in the final quarter to win 43-31.
Lindsay Hopkins led the girls with 17 points, followed by Kristen Allen with 8, Ashley Laible and Whitney Goeden each had 5, Mary Trenhaile 4 and Mary Lingenfelter and Lynndsy Hauger added 2 each.

Newcastle Holds Local Basketball Girls Down In 50-31 Victory
Newcastle jumped out to an 18-10 lead after the first quarter of play and then continued to pour it on in the second quarter as they moved ahead 36-19 at the half. Things didn’t improve much for the locals in the second half, as they were outscored 8-5 in the third quarter and then fell in the 50-31 loss.Bloomfield was led on offense by Lindsay Hopkins with 8, while Julie Nelson added 6, Mary Lingenfelter, Ali Gieselman and Samantha Goeden 4 each, Whitney Goeden 2 and 1 each to Kristen Allen, Ashley Laible and Mary Trenhaile. Mary Lingenfelter led the girls in rebounding with 8, while Whitney Goeden had 5, Emma Wagner 3, Samantha Goeden 3, Ali Gieselman 3, Julie Nelson 3, Mary Trenhaile 2, Lindsay Lindsay Hopkins 2 and 1 each to Lexi Luger, Kristen Allen, and Ashley Laible. Leading in steals was Ali Gieselman with 4, while Mary Trenhaile and Lindsay Hopkins had 3 each, Emma Wagner 2, Samantha Goeden 2 and 1 each to Julie Nelson, Mary Lingenfelter, Kristen Allen and Lynndsy Hauger. Local Girls Open Tri-Valley Tournament With 40-33 Victory
The Bloomfield Bees girl’s basketball team traveled to Irene on January 10th to take on Freeman Academy in the opening round of the Tri-Valley Tournament at Irene, S.D. They came home with a good 40-33 victory to move on in tourney play. Bloomfield and Freeman were knotted at 7 after the first quarter of play. Freeman then outscored Bloomfield 11-5 to lead 18-12 at the end of the first half of play. It was a big third quarter for Bloomfield as they outscored Freeman 17-6 and surged to a 29-24 lead entering the final period of play. Bloomfield was able to outscore Freeman again in the final quarter 11-9 for the 40-33 victory. Bloomfield was led on offense by Lindsay Hopkins with 11 points, followed by Kristen Allen with 8, Mary Trenhaile 5, Whitney Goeden and Julie Nelson with 4, Ali Gieselman 3, Samantha Goeden and Mary Lingenfelter 2 each and Ashley Laible had 1.Three girls shared rebounding honors with 6, Kristen Allen, Mary Trenhaile and Whitney Goeden. Julie Nelson and Ali Gieselman each had 5, Mary Lingenfelter 3, Lindsay Hopkins, Samantha Goeden and Ashley Laible 2 and Emma Wagner had 1. Lindsay Hopkins had 2 steals and 1 each went to Ashley Laible, Samantha Goeden, Julie Nelson, Mary Trenhaile and Kris-ten Allen. Lindsay Hopkins led the girls in assists with 5, while Ali Gieselman recorded 4 and Samantha Goeden had 1.

Bloomfield Girls Lose To Viborg In Heart Breaker 54-52
After their opening victory in the Tri-Valley Tournament, the Bloomfield girls were paired up with Viborg. They dug themselves out of a deep hole, only to come up 2 points short in the 54-52 loss.
Viborg opened up a huge 22-5 lead after the first quarter of play and then both teams matched each other in the second quarter with 7 points, leaving Bloomfield trailing 29-12 at the half.
Bloomfield then used an 18-11 edge in scoring in the third quarter to begin their run and again outscored Viborg 22-14 in the final quarter of play, but it wasn’t enough as they lost 54-52.
Leading the offense for Bloomfield was Lindsay Hopkins, who poured in 24 points, followed by Ali Gieselman with 8, Emma Wagner 7, Ashley Laible 4, Kristen Allen, Julie Nelson, Mary Lingenfelter and Whitney Goeden 2 each and Brooke Hopkins had 1.Top rebounder for Bloomfield was Ali Gieselman with 5, while Ashley Laible and Mary Lingenfelter each had 3, Samantha Goeden and Lindsay Hopkins 2 and 1 each to Emma Wagner and Kristen Allen. Lindsay Hopkins and Kristen Allen led the girls in steals with 3 each, followed by Ali Gieselman and Emma Wagner with 2 and Mary Lingenfelter and Julie Nelson with 1. Bees Girls Win Big In Consolation Game Of Tournament
The Bloomfield girls returned to Viborg on Saturday night for the consolation game of the Tri-Valley Tournament and took out their frustrations on Alcestor-Hudson as they handed them a 62-29 loss. Bloomfield used a balanced scoring attack led by Kristen Allen with 17, Lindsay Hopkins 14, Julie Nelson 11, Mary Lingenfelter 7, Whitney Goeden and Ashley Laible 4 apiece, Mary Trenhaile 3 and Ali Gieselman 2. Mary Trenhaile had rebounding honors with 5, while Lindsay Hopkins had 4, Ashley Laible, Mary Lingenfelter, Julie Nelson and Kristen Allen 2 and Whitney Goeden had 1. Bloomfield’s defense was frustrating for Alcester-Hudson as they were led by Kristen Allen with 7 steals, Lindsay Hopkins 6, Lynndsy Hauger 3, Ashley Laible, Ali Gieselman and Mary Trenhaile 2 each and Brooke Hopkins had 1. Kristen Allen dished out 5 assists for the girls, while Julie Nelson had 3 and 1 each to Emma Wagner, Mary Lingenfelter, Lindsay Hopkins and Lynndsy Hauger

Bloomfield Girls Win Tough 56-53 Victory Over Osmond
The Bloomfield girls surged to a 14-7 lead over Osmond in the first quarter only to have Osmond come back with a big second quarter outscoring Bloomfield 19-12 to knot the score at 26 at the half. Things stayed much the same in the third quarter as each team scored 11 points and made the fourth quarter pivotal for each team. It was another big offensive quarter for both teams, but Bloomfield was able to outscore Osmond 19-16 for the 56-53 victory. Leading Bloomfield in scoring was Lindsay Hopkins with 25 points, followed by Kristen Allen with 8, Whitney Goeden 7, Ali Gieselman 5, Mary Trenhaile 4, Mary Lingenfelter 3, Julie Nelson and Emma Wagner had 2.
Leading rebounders were Julie Nelson and Mary Lingenfelter with 8 each, followed by Whitney Goeden with 6, Mary Trenhaile 5, Kristen Allen 4, Lindsay Hopkins 3, Ashley Laible 2 and Lynndsy Hauger and Emma Wagner 1. Kristen Allen, Mary Lingenfelter and Whitney Goeden each had a blocked shot. Lindsay Hopkins was tough defensively, as she had 6 steals, while Kristen and Whitney Goeden had 3 and 1 each to Ali Gieselman, Emma Wagner and Ashley Laible. Kristen Allen dished out 7 assists on the night and Whitney Goeden and Lindsay Hopkins added 2 each while Emma Wagner, Ali Gieselman and Mary Trenhaile each had 1.

Bloomfield Girls Drop Hartington 58-48 In Conference Action
Hartington was next on the schedule for the Bloomfield girls and they found themselves hooked up in another touch conference game. The girls matched each other after the first quarter with 11 points each. Bloomfield picked it up in the second quarter as they outscored Hartington 18-10 and led 29-21 at the half. The Hartington girls were able to narrow the gap a little in the third quarter as they outscored Bloomfield 16-15, but it was a close fourth quarter with Bloomfield holding the scoring edge of 14-11 to hold on for the 58-48 victory. Leading Bloomfield on offense was Lindsay Hopkins with 22 points, followed by Mary Trenhaile with 8, Julie Nelson 7, Ashley Laible 6, Kristen Allen 6, Whitney Goeden 5 and Mary Lingenfelter and Ali Gieselman 2 each.
The rebounding honors were shared by Ashley Laible and Kristen Allen with 8 each, followed by Mary Trenhaile with 5, Julie Nelson 5, Emma Wagner 4, Lindsay Hopkins 3, Whitney Goeden and Mary Lingenfelter had 2 each. Ashley Laible led the girls in steals as she had 5 and Kristen Allen had 4, Julie Nelson 2 and 1 each to Whitney Goeden and Lindsay Hopkins. Julie Nelson recorded the girls only blocked shot on the night. Kristen Allen dished out 7 assists, while Lindsay Hopkins had 4, Mary Trenhaile 3, Ashley Laible 2 and Emma Wagner and Julie Nelson 1 each.

Bloomfield Girls Lose Close Contest To Wausa 52-46
The Bloomfield girls hosted Wausa and after a back and forth game, the Lady Vikings left town with a 52-46 victory. Wausa held a slim 16-14 lead after a very good first quarter for both teams, only to have Bloomfield surge back in the second quarter to take a 29-24 lead in the locker room at the half. The third quarter found the Lady Vikings moving back ahead as they outscored Bloomfield 15-9 to lead 39-38 heading into the final quarter. Wausa was able to stay hot as they outscored Bloomfield 13-8 to hold off the Bloomfield girls in a 52-46 victory for Wausa.
Bloomfield was led on offense by Kristen Allen and Julie Nelson with 9 points each, followed by Lindsay Hop-kins and Ashley Laible with 7 each, Mary Trenhaile 6, Mary Lingenfelter 4 and Emma Wagner and Whitney Goeden 2 each. Girls Pummel Verdigre In Scoring Fest 82-65
The Bloomfield Girls varsity team traveled to Verdigre and had one of their best offensive performances of the season as they posted an 82-65 victory over the Lady Eagles. Bloomfield held a commanding 20-8 lead after the first quarter of play and then extended their lead to 40-21 at the half. Verdigre came to life in the third quarter, as they outscored Bloomfield 19-18, and then again in the fourth quarter 23-18, but it wasn’t enough to catch Bloomfield as they fell 82-65.
Bloomfield was led offensively by Mary Trenhaile with 18 points, followed by Lindsay Hopkins with 13, Kristen Allen 11, Whitney Goeden and Ali Gieselman 9, Julie Nelson 7, Lynndsy Hauger 5, Emma Wagner 4 and 2 each to Ashley Laible, Mary Lingenfelter and Samantha Goeden.
Leading rebounder was Mary Trenhaile with 7, while Kristen Allen and Julie Nelson had 4, Ali Gieselman, Mary Lingenfelter, Emma Wagner, Whitney Goeden and Ashley Laible 3, Lynndsy Hauger and Samantha Goeden 2 and Brooke Hopkins 1. Bloomfield Girls Pull Out 57-56 Squeaker Over Allen
The Bloomfield girls hosted Allen recently and had their hands full before they pulled out a close 57-56 victory. Bloomfield held a slim 9-8 lead after the first quarter and then still lead 24-20 at the half.
The local girls were able to hold onto their lead going into the final quarter even though outscored 13-12 in the third quarter. Allen again outscored Bloomfield in the final quarter 20-17 to knot the score and send the game into overtime, where Bloomfield put up 4 points to their 3 for the 57-56 victory. Lindsay Hopkins led the girls offensively, as they poured in 19 points,followed by Mary Trenhaile with 9, Julie Nelson and Kristen Allen 8, Ali Gieselman and Mary Lingenfelter 4, Whitney Goeden and Ashley Laible 2 and Samantha Goeden had 1. The girls were led in rebounding by Mary Trenhaile, who recorded 11, followed by Mary Lingenfelter and Julie Nelson with 8, Lindsay Hopkins 7, Kristen Allen 6, Ashley Laible 4 and Whitney Goeden 3. Lindsay Hopkins had a great defensive game, as she recorded 12 steals followed by Kristen Allen with 4, Julie Nelson and Mary Trenhaile 3 and 2 each to Samantha Goeden and Mary Lingenfelter. Mary Trenhaile led the girls in assists, as she had 5, while Lindsay Hopkins had 4, Samantha Goeden 3 and 2 each to Whitney Goeden, Julie Nelson and Kristen Allen. Lindsay Hopkins had 2 blocked shots and Julie Nelson had 1.
