District STAR held at WSC

The Bloomfield FCCLA Chapter traveled to Wayne State College on Wednesday, January 16th for District STAR Competition. Schools participating were Bloomfield, Crofton, Creighton, Plainview, Elgin, Battle Creek, Pierce, Osmond and Neligh-Oakdale. STAR Events(Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning through cooperative, individualized, and competitive activities.
Sixty five members, five judges (Diane Wagner, Sue Rohrer, Marlene Folck, Norma Ober, and Jake Runyon), two chaperones (Mrs. Lingenfelter, Mrs. Oltjenbruns) and Mrs. Runyon the adviser traveled to Wayne for District STAR.
Bloomfield did very well. Qualifying for State competition with a Top Gold was the Parliamentary Procedure Team consisting of Emma Wagner, Mary Lingenfelter, Ali Gieselman, Leanna Cayler, Grace Trenhaile, and Lynndsy Hauger. Qualifying for State with Top Silver were Nathan Marvin and Brady Surface(when an event doesn’t have any gold medal winners, the Top Silver winner qualifies to go to State).
Receiving a Gold Medal and runner up to State were Sarah Oltjenbruns, Ashley Fiedler, Emily Kersten, Alyssa Sutter, Cortney Millikan, Anna Skroch, Brooke Hopkins, and Karrah Johnson.
Receiving a Silver Medal and runner up to State were Hannah Seagren, Rebecca Broders, Kylie Abbenhaus, and Emmalea Johnson.
Receiving Gold Medals were Tanya Liska, Joni Yule, Kristen Allen, Kelsey Kumm, Christina Rodgers, Ben Skroch, Holliday Quezada, Mickey Doerr, Ethan Olander, Nick Mertens, Takumi Faruki, Autumn Luger, Tara Gray, Grace Carhart, David Bertschinger, Silas Oltjenbruns, Dominique Swanson, and Christa Castle.
Receiving Silver Medals were Katelyn Fiedler, Robyn Hynes, Kalynn Barlow, Jennifer Ohlfest, Brett Hopkins, Colton Wilson, Justin Jindra, Matt Miller, Isaac Mertens, Jared Lauck, Julie Nelson, Mary Trenhaile, Lexi Luger, Lenora Lammers, Sara Lovejoy, Nick Nipp, Reed Fehringer, Will Yunker, Curtis Boschult, Jonathon Klintworth and Cody Allen.
Receiving Bronze Medals were Jessica Sahagun and Brett Klintworth.
Bloomfield hosted District STAR this year and four members: Emily White, Ashley Laible, Kailee Schaller, and Karissa Warrior assisted in timing events.
I am extremely proud of our chapter! The students did an AWESOME job!
