Class Floats
High School classes are required to be represented by a
float in the homecoming parade. This is optional only for junior
high classes.
Class Officers and their parents are in charge of the homecoming float. They may be helped by a *float committee of no more than 1 or 2 others in the class. Your class sponsor will need to know the names of these students. Everyone in the class is still expected to help decorate the float.
Classes will no longer be dismissed on Thursday in order to decorate floats. Floats need to be built and decorated independently of school time. Class officers need to set up when, where, and what to build as a float. They need to find a driver. They need to set up tearing down the float also.
On Thursday September 11, only class officers and committee will be dismissed at 2:00 to work on the float if (1) they have turned into the office the name of an adult sponsor who will be present and (2) they need the time to finish their float. Others in the class will remain in school.
On Friday, September 12, Only class officers and/or committee
may leave the school at 1:00 to get their float down to the fair
ground and lined up for the parade. Others in the class will remain
at school until the 2:30 dismissal. The Junior High’s Olympic games
will begin at 1:10, and Coronation will begin at 1:30. With
coronation ending at 2:30 there should be time for others to get to
the fairground before the 3:00 start.
Class Flag
Each high school class is to create a Team flag (instead of
a banner/due by 12:00 on Monday September 8). You can use an old
sheet. This can, but does not need to match, your team logo on your
uniform. Have at least two colors and display your class name or
grade and a design. Attach it to a pole. It needs to be at around 3
feet by 5 feet; we will display them in the gym during the
week.
