FFA Begins Holiday Fruit Sales This Week

by Mr. Eisenhauer

October 28, 2009

The Bloomfield FFA chapter will be starting their annual holiday sales program this week.  They will be featuring many of the same products as last year with a few minor changes.  The fruit offerings are the same with several varieties of apples, large grapefruit and oranges, pineapples, pears and potatoes.  Fortunately, with the large apple crop, the apple prices are considerable lower this year.
As in the past, we will sell Bloomfield Bakery products, Wausa Locker meats, cookie dough, butter braids, bird feeders, and Bases Loaded pizza from JB in Bloomfield or Bills Place in Wausa.  One change on the pizza sales is that along with the frozen pizzas, we are selling certificates so you can buy fresh baked pizza if you choose. We will also have Amish Style candies again this year.  Unfortunately, last year the cashew crunch was not what we expected but the problem is solved and it will be the same as previous years.
A new item this year is Bloomfield FFA doormats.  These are 20X30 inch pieces of carpet like material with a Bloomfield FFA logo designed by Mickey Doerr.  They are made for inside use only.  They will be an excellent promotional item for you to demonstrate your support for the FFA program.  Cost will be $20 each.
This year we are also going to change the way the product is delivered.  Several chapters have gone to using a pick-up day where customers come to school to get their product on a set day and it seems to work very well.  We are doing this because December is a very busy time and unfortunately some product does not get delivered as timely as it should be.  We will have our pick-up times from 1:00 pm-7:00 pm on Dec. 11 and 9:00 am-12:00 noon on Dec 12.  Arrangements may be made to pick up product at other times if necessary.  Although we would prefer that people picked up their own product, arrangements can be made to have it delivered.
Profits from the Holiday sales program are used to finance the chapter’s trip to state convention in April.  Please show your support when students call on you for this sales program.  If you are interested in purchasing any product, but have not been called on, please notify the school or either advisor Amber Endres (373-2829) or Richard Eisenhauer (373-2420).  The sales program ends Nov. 16th.
