On October 21st, 2009, 46 FCCLA members attended the FCCLA District Leadership Conference in Norfolk, NE. The keynote speakers were Mr. and Mrs. Bemis of Omaha, NE. Twenty five years ago they lost their toddler son in a drowning accident and decided to donate his liver. The recipient was an infant girl who was not expected to live. She is now married and is expected to live a long and healthy life. The Bemis’ share their story in an effort to educate people of the importance of organ donation and its impact on society. The members then attended breakout sessions on various topics including Internet safety. The afternoon culminated with awards for creed speaking, power of one, and a district slide show.
