The Woodworking class at Bloomfield High School has been very productive so far this year. Included in the class are Cody Allen, Chelsea Braunsroth, Reed Fehringer, Ty Alexander, Ashley Fiedler, Tyler Smith, and Jacob Williams. Pictured below are Cody Allen, Chelsea Braunsroth, and Reed Fehringer with their completed projects for the fall semester. Also featured below is the “winning” class video by Ashley Fiedler. One of the assignments this semester was to make a Shop Safety Video starring fellow students and emphasizing safety procedures and rules learned at the beginning of the year. The first project built by the students was a simple project to get the students familiarized with the power tools and general skills. Several students built gun racks and one student built a shelf with cabinet.
The class is currently working on project planning for their second project. This project is meant to be much more difficult, incorporating new skills, the use of more power tools, and unique joinery techniques. The students are designing their own project, sketching it, completing a bill of materials for it, drawing the cutting plans, and writing step-by-step procedures for building the project. Watch for pictures of these unique projects to be featured next spring.
