The Bloomfield FFA Chapter also entered 2 Jr. Parli-pro team selected from the 9th and 10th grade classes.  Due to illnesses, several members had to be substituted at the last minute, but in spite of this, they performed very well.  This competition consisted of three two-minute demonstrations of three different motions.  Three different participants served as president and the other four participants were asked questions after the actual demonstration.  A knowledge test was also given, and Bloomfield’s two teams also scored the highest on the test.  Both teams received a blue ribbon for their efforts.
Individually Emily Kersten and Ashley Fiedler both participated in Creed Speaking.  This involved reciting the creed expressively and answering questions about its meaning.  Both received blue ribbons.
Melville Seagren and Seth Jonson participated in Junior Public Speaking.  They prepared and delivered a 4-6 minute speech on any agricultural topic and answered questions after the speech was given.  They both received blue ribbons also.
Clayton Hanzlik participated in the Natural Resources speaking contest.  His topic was the development of the corn plant focusing on the genetic developments of recent years.  Clayton received a red ribbon for his efforts.
Hannah Seagren and Austin Hamm were the chapter’s entries in Extemporaneous Speaking contest.  They had to draw a topic from a pool of ten topics and were give 30 minutes to prepare a five to seven minute speech on that topic.  They then had to answer questions on that topic.  Both were awarded  blue ribbons.
Michelle Haselhorst and Curtis Dather represented the chapter in Employment Skills contest.  Prior to the competition, they submitted a resume and letter of application.  During the contest they filled out an application form, participated in a ten minute interview and wrote a follow-up letter.  Both participants were awarded blue ribbons.
The junior high also had the opportunity to participate.  Kara Bruns receive a blue ribbon on her discovery speech.  The chapter also entered four quiz bowl teams: an 8th grade girls team, 8th grade boys team, 7th grade team, and a Niobrara team.  The 7th grade team won their division and received a purple ribbon while the three other teams received blue ribbons and made it toward the top of their divisions.
All of these students should be congratulated for their participation and outstanding achievements.  The Bloomfield Chapter is very proud of how they represent the chapter.
