Cody Allen Wins FFA Senior Livestock Judging Contest 2nd Year in a Row

by Richard Eisenhauer

February 01, 2010

This past week, the FFA chapter traveled to NECC to participate in the District 4 livestock-judging contest.  Between Wausa, Niobrara and Bloomfield, they entered 2 senior teams and 6 junior teams.  In the senior division, Cody Allen was named the overall winner for the entire district.  This is the second year in a row for the honor.  His team place 4th in the competition qualifying them for state.  Teammates were Hannah Seagren, Curtis Dather (Niobrara) and Dustin Crosley (Niobrara).  Placing 9th individually was Kevin Buschkamp who was a member of the Wausa team.
Due to the weather, the junior team struggled a little this year.  Because of not having school Monday and Tuesday due to snow, along with not having class Wednesday because of MAPP testing, they were not able to learn necessary information in class for the judging contest.  In spite of that, they did respectably well missing qualifying for state by one placing.  Highest placing individuals for Bloomfield was Ty Alexander at 19th and Austin Hamm at 20th.  Tyrel Stark (Niobrara) of the Bloomfield chapter was the individual winner in the junior division.
Congratulations to all of the contestants, division winners, and especially the senior team that qualified for state.
