Congratulations to the following CDE (Career Development Events) contest participants for qualifying for state competition.  Forty-six participants from Bloomfield, Wausa and Niobrara participated in several different contests at NECC on March 3rd.  All teams receive ribbons, but individually only the top half of the participants receives medals or ribbons.  In most of the contests, only the top 25% of the teams qualify.  Results are as follows:
The Bloomfield Food Science team consisting of Ali Gieselman, Lynndsy Hauger, Jonathan Carhart and Whitney Goeden placed 1st which qualified them for state competition.  Individually Ali won, Lynndsy received 3rd purple, and Jonathon a red ribbon.  The Niobrara Food Science team of Tyrel Stark, Wade Foner, Savannah Reynolds and Cyrina Forman received a red ribbon but did not qualify for state.   Tyrel was awarded a blue individually.
The Meats Team of Ty Alexander, Callen Koester, Melville Seagren, and Tyler Smith placed first. The second team of Emily Kersten, Ashley Fiedler, Katie Kumm, and Dominique Swanson placed 5th receiving a blue ribbon.  Individually Ty won the contest.  A purple ribbon was awarded to Callen placing 2nd.   Students receiving blue ribbons were Melville Seagren (5th), and Tyler Smith (8th).  Receiving reds were Dominique Swanson, Ashley Fiedler, and Emily Kersten.  Reed Fehringer also participated but was not a member of a team.  This is not a qualifying event.
The Bloomfield Welding Team of Taylor Hollander, Cody Allen and Kevin Buschkamp placed 2nd.  A Niobrara team of Alex Sternberg, Dustin Crosley, and Curtis Dather received a blue placing 6th.  Both teams qualified for state.  Unfortunately the Wausa team consisting of Ryley Plumbtree, Zach Hingst, and Jonathon Klintworth did not qualify for state but the did receive a red ribbon.  Individually Taylor won the arc welding division and Ryley won the wire division.   Alex, Cody, Curtis, and Kevin were awarded blue ribbons while Zach and Jonathon received reds
The Ag Sales Team consisting of Morgan Kauth, Hannah Seagren and Tanner Schumacher, and Michelle Haselhorst placed second which was good enough to qualify them for state.  Individually Morgan placed 5th, receiving a blue, while Tanner and Hannah received reds.
In Floriculture the state qualifying team of Becca Broders, Emmalea Johnson, Kylie Abbenhaus, and Dylan Wilson placed third.  Individually Becca received a purple placing 5th, Kylie and Dylan received blue and Emmalea received red ribbons.
The Bloomfield Livestock Management team of Austin Hamm, Katelyn Fiedler, Wayne Bruegman, Jacob Bathke, Alan Ruda, and Clayton Hanzlik placed third and received a blue ribbon, which was good enough to qualify for state competition.  The Wausa team of Ryley Plumbtree, Dakota Cunningham, Derrick Frevert, Aaron Kleinschmit, and Cody Jensen did well receiving a blue but just missed qualifying for state.  There are no individual ribbons given in this contest because it is a total team effort, but all participants contributed well.
The Ag Science Contest is a general knowledge test designed for first year students, but is not a state qualifying contest.  All four teams entered received blue ribbons.  The Bloomfield team of Ty Alexander, Tyler Smith, Callen Koester, and Ashley Fiedler placed 7th.  Wausa team of Alex Cunningham, Adam Kleinschmit, Samantha Key, and Trevor Wakeley placed 8th.   Niobrara Team of Savannah Reynolds, Cyrina Forman, Wade Foner, and Tyrel Stark placed 9th.  Bloomfield’s second team of Emily Kersten, Melville Seagren, Katie Kumm, and Dominique Swanson placed 11th.  Individually Callen received a blue and Tyler received a red.
Congratulations to all of these participants.  They worked hard to accomplish these achievements and should be proud of their accomplishments.  The Chapter is now ready to enter State Convention competition coming soon-- April 7-9th.  Along with qualifying in these events, the chapter has also qualified two livestock judging teams and a senior parliamentary procedure team previous to this.  Both Ali Gieselman and Lynndsy Hauger are state finalists in their proficiency area.  Cody Allen, Morgan Kauth, Lynndsy Hauger, and Ali Gieselman will be receiving their State Degrees.
